BOLIVIA, Colonial (as Alto Perú). Felipe IV, king of Spain, 1621-1665. 2 Reales (Silver, 23 mm, 6.34 g, 3 h), Potosi. Coat of arms, round countermark with crowned L in pearl border. Rev. Coat of arms. KM C 17. Very rare. Holed at the edge, otherwise, host coin fine, countermarks very fine.

In 1651-1652 coins of Potosi (Bolivia) were countermarked with a crowned A, L, F, G or P and devalued from 8 Reales to 7 ½ Reales and from 4 Reales to 3 ¾ Reales. Smaller denominations were to be melted. Krause/Mishler do not describe any countermarked 2-Reales-coins.
